About the Solo Performance Collective

The Solo Performance Collective is a dynamic program that nurtures the next generation of theatrical voices by equipping emerging artists with the tools, mentorship, and training needed to create and sustain their own solo work.

 

Through master lessons led by accomplished professionals, personalized guidance, and a focus on storytelling rooted in authenticity, identity, and lived experience, the program empowers artists to find their voice and take ownership of their creative journey.

 

With an emphasis on sustainability, craft, and self-production, Solo Performance Collective helps participants not only develop impactful performances but also build the foundational skills to thrive in today’s artistic landscape.

Constance Sadie Thompson: Credits include ZOOMAN AND THE SIGN (Negro Ensemble Theater) TONI STONE  (Playhouse on Park), DEFIANCE OF DANDELIONS (No Dream Deferred), THE FAMILY LINE (Goat in the Road Productions) and A RAISIN IN THE SUN (Voices in the Dark Rep). She is a 2024 Audelco Award nominee and two time Big Easy Award nominee, 2020 “Best Supporting Actress” A Raisin in the Sun, and 2023 “Best Performance in a Play” The Family Line, as well as 2023 award winner “Best Play” The Family Line.

Christian Prins Coen is an actor and activist known for their award-winning performances in theater and film. Credits include How to Feel without Touching, premiered at the Chain Theatre One Act Festival, The Guinep Tree, performed for the ambassador of Barbados, Bonus Life, a sold-out run, and In2U a horror short directed by Adrienne Acevedo Lovette. A Best Ensemble winner at SheNYC (The Station), they push for bold storytelling and depth in every endeavor. Follow them irresponsibly @beigebabyjesus.

Chrystal Campbell is a multi talented artist who graduated with her BFA in theater from Western Connecticut State University. After graduation she moved to New York City and started her professional acting career where she can be recognized on TV as Kelz in HBO Max's comedy pilot Wild Life, Isha Baptiste on City on A Hill and modeling for brands such as Danessa Myricks Beauty. Following her passion for the arts she continues to search for her next project.

Wadiah is an Actor/writer from Newark, NJ. Theater credits include The Black Narrative - Billie Holiday Theatre,  Yellow Butterfly- Jamaica Performing Arts Center,  Zooman and The Sign -The Negro Ensemble Company, What -Black Lady Theatre, In The Middle Of The Mess -Yendor Theater Company, and In Between Time- Newark Symphony Hall. Most recent film credits include Gazer which just premiered at Cannes! She is delighted to be apart of this new collective and very grateful for the opportunity! Training: Marishka Phillips, Charles Weldon, Arthur French, Anthony Abeson, and Petronia Paley.

Aja Mahogany is a trained actress hailing from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Mahogany was recently tapped to play Hannah in the staged reading of Corktown at Irish Repertory Theatre and understudy for LaRonda in  Fish at Theatre Row. One of her favorite roles to date was Marc Antony in Julius Caesar. Aja combines her faith, sensitivity and book nerd qualities to shape intricate and connective characters. Aja is seeking representation. She delights in both modern and heightened texts in (musical) theater, film, tv and commercial. Marcel Isaiah Martinez is an actor, playwright, singer from The Bronx. Marcel Isaiah started studying theatre at 11 and has never looked back since.Theatre is my discipline to participate in art is both essential and an honor.  Credits include Rent(Mark) Urban Assembly for Performing Arts Arduna Chatmon Must Change Reading MCC Theatre (J),What to Send Up When It Goes Down, SUNY Purchase (seven),Soft Reading MCC Theatre (Jamal) Isaiah received his B.A in Theatre and Performance from SUNY Purchase in 2022 where he premiered his play Death To Masculinity a black queer coming of age story. Shout out to The Bronx, mi gente Garífuna y hondureño, and art for giving me a purpose that I wasn’t able to see.

Nadel Henville (She/They) is a multi-hyphenate actor, playwright and producer that resides in New York City. As a first-generation immigrant from St. Lucia, they’ve found a place for themselves and who they can be within the Arts. They found their  path as an actor through National Theater Institute's Theatermakers program in 2021, where they became a Miranda Family Fellow and now alum. As an administrator, they’ve gone through the ASPIRE Arts Leadership program in the Kennedy Center, where they’ve been mentored by incredible leaders in the field from across the country. Nadel's most fulfilling work happens  as a freelance writer and producer in this field. As an artist in New York, it has been an incredible journey to learn how to create grassroot productions, and work with emerging artists in our field, and to see their dreams come alive.

Othello is a Writer, Actor, and Filmmaker from Harlem, NYC with roots in Nassau, Bahamas. Some credits include Twelfth Night at Classical Theatre of Harlem, Passover at The Spot, Alligator Man at National Black Theatre.  Solo plays performed and written by Othello: Bo: A Billy Ocean  story, Rush Hour on the A-Train, Trans-Frat, Heir Jones, Shakespeare’s Anonymous: OR a guide for Black Mens’ mental health. In film, he has been featured in The Story of Immeasurable Worth, Home, and Disrupted. Othello has authored several short stories– Thumby the Thumbsucker, The Last Conch, The Hungry Heirlooms authored poem collections such as From my Harlem stoop, Bahamian Blessings, and the play The Rapture in Harlem. Founding member of Black Art Night Group. Currently, Conchshell Productions Artists Collective. Othello holds an MFA in Acting from Columbia University.

Eryn Harris (she/her) is a Queens, N.Y. based writer, director and actor with a dual bachelor’s degree in Theatre & Performance and Playwriting & Screenwriting, from SUNY Purchase College. Purchase rep credits include: Wayne (J.J.), Just A Little Anxious (Justine), Making New Plays “St Jay” (Esther), What To Send Up When It Goes Down (Three), directing Thank You Mrs.Pike and The Beauty of Risk. Writing and Directing A Black Play?. Other credits include, As The World Caves In (Pierce) in the Chain Theater Festival 2024 and Secret Theater Festival 2023, directing Thank You Ms.Pike in the New York Theatre Festival 2023, Writing and directing Why We Write in the Chain Theater Festival 2025. She would like to give God all the glory for the many blessings he has provided. As well as thank the family & friends who have supported her artistic journey along the way.

Bernard Scudder is an NYC-based actor and teaching artist with an immense passion for inclusive and radical storytelling. Bernard recently made their regional debut in Toni Stone at Playhouse on Park this past summer! Other credits include: Love Among Dreamers (El Barrio Artspace),The Former Kings of Clutch City (Playwrights Horizon), I Don’t Do That (Cherry Lane Theater), What To Send Up When It Goes Down (SUNY Purchase). Bernard gives a big shoutout to their friends, family and team for all their support!

AnJu Hyppolite is a Haitian-American, award-winning actor, writer, and educator who works at the intersection of theater arts, technology, and social equity. Her poetry has been showcased at City Hall, at Photoville NYC, on Armand Carr's The Quiet Storm (102.9 KBLX), and in an installation accompanying Berkeley's TheatreFirst production of HeLa, a play about Henrietta Lacks. As a 2020-2021 Haiti Cultural Exchange artist-in-residence, she used storytelling and poetry to examine the multiplicities of Haitian-American identity. AnJu co-produced Conch Shell Productions’ 2024 New Works Fest at HB Studios, where she presented a reading of her one-act play, L.O.R.
